Mrs. Edward W. R. Dreyer (Mary Magdaline (Clair) Dreyer)
Mrs. Edward W. R. Dreyer, 89, a resident of Freeport for eighty-four years, passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, while seated in her home conversing with members of the family circle. Prior to her demise Mrs. Dreyer had been active in her home life and apparently well. Mary Magdeline Clair was born March 19, 1845, at Lancaster, Pa., the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Musselman Clair. She came to Freeport with her parents at the age of five, making the westward trip by water route to Savanna and from that city to Freeport by wagon. Jan. 10, 1864, she was united in marriage with Edward W. R. Dreyer, who preceded her in death in 1923. Surviving are five children; Mrs. Laura F. Brubaker, Mears, Mich.; Earl R. Dreyer, Winnifred, Mont.; Mrs. J. G. Leekley, and Mrs. A. J. Luebbing, Freeport, and Electa E. Dreyer at home. Thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Three children, Mrs. Anna M. Hoefer, Haulsted E. Dreyer, and an infant daughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Dreyer, who was a home-loving person, had lived for the past fifty-five years in the dwelling in which she died. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, at the home, 804 West Galena Avenue. Rev. C. A. Bloomquist, pastor of Embury Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Arthur Slusser is in charge of funeral arrangements.
