She came with her parents to Illinois when 11 years of age. On April 14, 1863, she was ,married to Meigs Wait, who preceded her in death October 6, 1919. Their entire married life was spent upon the farm near Reynolds where she has since lived. They were the parents of seven children, six of whom survive; Harry, of Liberty, Texas; Ernest, who was a medical student when his death occurred July 16, 1887; Miss Daisy, who has lived with at home and faithfully cared for her parents; Bert of Bentonville, Ark.; Marion, of Reynolds; Guy of LeRoy, Ill.; and Mark of Augusta. There were two step-children, Frank, deceased, and Mrs. Kate Hayford of Chicago. Mrs. Hannah Dunn of Minneapolis, Minn., a sister of Mrs. Wait, who has been with her for several weeks, is the sole survivor of her family. Edith Wait was a woman greatly beloved for her refinement and generous hospitality and a large circle of friends will greatly miss her. All this grew out of the fact that at an early age in life she consecrated herself to God and made Christ her Savior. Through all these years she was a faithful and active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, where her life and work will long be perpetuated. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 4th, from the Methodist church of Reynolds with Rev. O.M. Dunlevy of Aledo officiating assisted by Rev. G.W. Shepherd of the local church and Rev. Robinson of Edgington. The pall bearers were the five sons and a grandson. The floral tributes were numerous. Interment was made in the family lot in Reynolds cemetery beside her husband. Relatives from a distance who were present include the five sons and Mrs. Hannah Dunn, of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Harry Holmes and Miss Hause of Aledo, Ralph and Emery Hause of Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Hayford of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Smith of Milan.
