Hazard Wilber Kendall was born in Towanda, Bradford County, Pa., in the year 1814, and died in Plano, Ill., February 24, 1899. He was married during the year 1835 to Miss Mary Smith, at Ripley, Chautauqua County, N.Y. His wife died three years later, leaving one son, Augustus Kendall, now of Hamlet, Ill. In 1841 he was again united in marriage to Miss Ursula Russell, of Ripley, N.Y. By this union two sons and two daughters were born. Three of his children survive him-Augustus Kendall, Mrs. Laura Jane Lull and Elyzer Webster Kendall; also an adopted son, Ernest B. Kendall, associated with William Deering & Co.

H.W. Kendall came to the west from Ripley, N.Y., in 1855, locating in Columbus, Columbia County, Wis., where he remained for two years, removing from there to Kaneville, Ill., and to Plano in 1862, where he has been a continuous resident to the time of his death.
