How the NVGenWeb Started
In June, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more that one county, they could be located in the index. At the same time, some volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page. Eventually, this was expanded to all states and all counties across the US.

County Coordinator
My name is Joe Markovich and I am the NVGenWeb Churchill county website coordinator. Submittals of historical documents, photos, and just about anything else genealogical related are always welcome for publication in this website.  I am also the coordinator for the NVGenWeb Washoe County Nevada web site. To volunteer to host a Nevada county, please contact the State Coordinator Rebecca Maloney or the Assistant State Coordinator Norma Hass.
County Background
Churchill County was named for Fort Churchill, now in Lyon County. The Fort is named in honor of General Sylvester Churchill. He was promoted Brevet Brigadier-General, 23 February, 1847, in recognition of his services at the battle of Buena Vista, Mexico. Bucklands was the first county seat of Churchill County but it too is located in what is now Lyon County. Bucklands or Bucklands Station served travelers and the soldiers from Fort Churchill. Sam Buckland ran his trading post and tavern there. The county was officially organized in 1864 and La Plata was established as its county seat; then came Stillwater in 1868, and finally Fallon in 1903, its current county seat. Churchill County is the home of Naval Air Station Fallon. The 2004 population estimates are 24,355 for the county.

Look Up and Research Request
I am unable to do your personal research. I do not live in Churchill county or in Nevada and I do not have access to additional records. If you do not see the information you are seeking in this site, I do not have it as everything I have is posted in this site.
